Hello from Down Under, to be more precise Burnie in Tasmania. Your album Melt is the best new music I have heard for a long time and at the moment Melt and Blur are the only two albums I own remotely worth listening to. I personally like Crawl and Sick and Beautiful is starting to get played on one or two radio stations down here (like the heinous, Spice Girl and Hanson obsessed TTT and the much better Triple J). I got my friend to buy the album and he likes it too. Hope you get all the success you deserve because if your music gets played heaps the world will be a much happier place! Come to Australia real soon!

What can I say that nobody else has said about your band?

AJC just kicks the asses of every wannabe alternative band out there! Yeah! (Okay, I exaggerated slightly.)

I first heard "Sick & Beautiful" over DWNU FM 107.5 here in the Philippines. I'm in Antipolo, Rizal (go look it up on the map). S&B didn't get much airplay even though it got into their countdown. Regardless, I thought it was cool anyway so I found out about you through the website (nice site design BTW). You see, I'm one of those people who have lost trust in music channels on TV (especially MTV) so I find out about musicians through radio and then through the internet. The music channels here in the Phil. just don't give you startup bands the recognition that you deserve. Anyway, knowing how difficult it is to find "not so popular" CDs here in the Phil., I just had my mother get me "Melt" when she went to the US.

I'm spreading the word about AJC here in the Philippines 'cause I'm sure that you can count the number of Pinoy AJC fans here using your fingers and toes...and maybe a nostril or two (say "Hi to all the Pinoys in Canada" for me). So far, I've convinced 3 other people that AJC Rocks and they are waiting anxiously (I think) for the next single and the Asian release of "Melt".

Right now, a lot of people can't appreciate your music here because nobody plays your video. That will change hopefully once "Melt" is out here. I just have one suggestion to make for the video of "Skywriting": Videos that just show the band playing suck hard. Really hard. You have to catch the attention of the viewer in some other way (Like what Garbage did with "Queer").

Anyway, here's the praise part:

Mere words cannot explain how Sal's voice can get so articulate and so dynamic. It's like she knows what to do and how to do it in every note (well, chord) of the song. Her voice twists and turns in every direction. She's one of the better singers of Alternative music and it's good that we can still find singers like her that don't focus on vocal quality but more on vocal skill while still retaining that "I'm talking to you, motherfucker!" feeling of alternative rock music (Read: "The Ability to Scream").

Of course, the rest of the band is that good too, but I can't quite point out why. They just ROCK HARD DAMMIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, I'll just shut-up now. MORE POWER TO ARITIFICIAL JOY CLUB!!!!!!!! YEAH!!!!!!!!

You guys kick ass. I can't believe the cd. I bought it for sick and beautiful. But the cd is one of those that you can play the whole damned thing through and not want to get up and change the song. I personally think Skywriting should be the next single though. You are gonna be bigger than Alanis and last longer. You aren't a trend.

hey, guys, how are you on this wonderfully wonderful kinda type day? i doubt you care, but i'm fine. :)

i'm just sending you some mail to comment on Melt. i bought it some time ago, shortly after i first heard "Sick & Beautiful", and i've enjoyed the CD immensely. many of my friends find this kinda odd, seeing as you're one of the lightest bands i listen to (other bands i enjoy include Tool, Type O Negative, and other heavy stuff).

at the risk of boring you, i'd like to tell you what i like about you (please don't be offended by nerve in telling you what "I" think is important, i have a tendancy to do that to everyone). with so many bands out there full of people trying to be something they're not (Marilyn Manson comes to mind, even though i like his music:), it's refreshing to see a band being themselves. it's also nice to see musicians who i can somewhat relate to (after all, i like Star Trek a bit, though i don't agree about not watching lesbian porn:). most big names these days seem to try to distance themselves from the average joe, such as myself (i guess), and i hope that you never get into that kind of thinking.

another reason that i like you is that you sound good. i'm an aspiring musician myself (played some bass, write lots of lyrics, want to sing), though the music i would tend to do is much heavier than yours. not that heavier is better, it's just that my version of finesse is just how hard you smash your instrument. my singing vioce has been compared, quite reasonably i thought, to a man trying to gargle whilst being attacked by wolves (hehe).

anyhow, i'm sure i've taken up too much of your time as it is, so i guess i'll just say ciao and be on my merry way.

Hallo! My name is Amanda Gaines and I go to Greenfield Central. Greenfield is just east of Indianapolis. Anyway, I went to X-FEST and saw Artificial Joy Club. It was awesome!! :) I was wondering if you'll ever get to come back to Indianapolis? After the show, I got majorly into your band and now my CD is worn out (my mom is also sick of it and is threatening to throw it away because I listen to Cheeky Monkey every morning before school). I also got my best friend, Kasey (moo) into Sick and Beautiful. She can't sing, but she sure as hell tries. I was also wondering if you could give me some tips to start my own band. Recently you guys have taken the place of my (and some of my friends) favorite band. YOU beat such bands as Smashing Pumpkins and The Offspring. THAT should tell you something.

Some of my friends and I saw you at That Damn Show 97' in Peoria, Arizona on Sept.20. What sucked though is that I didn't get to meet you. I think by the end of the night the total people reached over 20,000 something people.

But to get to more important things...You...HAVE...to...come...back...to...phoenix. And to make EVERYONE happy.

You have probably noticed how teenagers segregate themselves into groups of friends with musical intrests. It's the main line between social groups, so you could think of your self as teenage gods and a beautiful sweet little goddess. I ran across your site by accident. Ironically, I've had your CD for a few months now (since July), and was just listening to it today for the first time in a couple weeks and while still on track 02, I saw a link to artificialjoyclub.com

I live in Kitchener, Ontario and I picked up the CD after I kept on hearing Sick & Beautiful on London's Best Rock, FM96 :) Sick & Beautiful is perfect to listen to at work (I was working in construction last summer). I'm 16, male, and I play the guitar (not in a band or anything).

Your CD is great, I assumed that Sick & Beautiful would be my favourite track on the disc, but that isn't the case. They're all good. I like Skywriting and No Shame the best though.

Sal's (what's her real name) vocals are AMAZING, especially on Skywriting. She's very talented, she has a diverse and beautiful voice.

The guitar is great too, lots of catchy riffs. Do you have any idea where I could get some Artificial Joy Club tablature?

I'd comment on the drums, but I'm no drummer so I don't really know what to say. Way to keep beat, Andrew! ;)

Thanks for your time, I'm a big fan. Your band really fills the void - there aren't enough good modern rock bands with female singers. Rest assured, I'll buy the next CD as soon as it comes out.

I would just like to start off by saying I really enjoyed your album entitled 'Melt.' It is one of the few in my collection where I can listen to it from start to finish and not skip any songs. I find the melodies refreshingly haunting and the lyrics interestingly surrealistic. Keep up the good work and I hope to see more from Artifical Joy Club.

I just bougght "melt" and I have to hand it to you guy's, it's the best cd I've bbought in a long time. I had been looking for every since I seen you all at Lollapalooza in Charlotte, NC, and just found it , like, 3 days ago. It's the only cd I've listened to since I got it. I just got the CD and I saw that you guys (and gal) were from Canada. Just goes to prove my theory that Canadian music rules. I thought the CD was very fresh....it had a new kind of sound to it that other artists. Anyways, I am from Montreal and I heard "Sick and Beautiful" on Chom Fm(97.7 in Montreal) a couple of times a I heard it alot more on the Burlington station The Buzz (99.9)....i thought you were an american band since you got so much airplay on an american station (which is a hard thing to do for a Canadian band). Well....good luck with future projects and keep up the good work.

I just bought your CD and haven't been able to stop playing it all weekend!!! The question is not if this is the best CD of the year, but where it is on my all-time list.

I first heard your song on MTV's 120 Minutes, and was pleasantly suprised to see it was doing so well nationwide on the radio.

Of course my local station, the powerful but misguided 99X in Atlanta, is asleep at the wheel and is not playing you yet. I'll see what I can do.

I will add a review of the CD to my new music web page "On the Verge" next weekend. It will be the first CD ever to receive 5 stars. If you get a chance to see the page, you will see that I think very highly of the Canadian music scene.

You have a sound that is unmatched by any other band I have heard. I really liked when you played the Zeppelin tune to end your set. Keep up the good work. WoW!!! I'm not too sure what excatly I should say. About a month ago I was in a car just cruising and listening to the radio. I heard Sick and Beautiful and instantly loved it. It's lyics, it's sound, it's style was something unique and I like what I heard very much.

Nearly once every two days since that day I would see an ad for HMV and it would play a bit of the Sick and Beautiful video. Well, I just needed that song for myself and so went out today and bought Melt. I listened to it the moment I got home and fell in love. It's weird how a whole album (not just 4 or 5 songs) can be so amazingly amazing. I have never heard or experienced anything like The Artificial Joy Club before and quite honestly, it's a shame. Anyways, I just thought I'd tell you that you have a brand new fan who will keep Melt in easy access and repeat play of her CD player for a while to come. Stay cool because you really are!

My name is Glen Johnson and I just saw you guys last night when you appeared at First Avenue in Minneapolis. I have to confess that that was my first time on the "club scene" but you should know it was all because of you. If that sounds corny you're not alone. You were amazing on stage. I was very impressed by your ability to keep up the energy and the almost frenzied quality throughout the performance. I especially appreciated the feedback you gave to the crowd. It may seem silly that "adults" would get such a kick out of having someone say that their city "rocks" and that they're a "great audience" but they ate it up. I am definitely hoping that you will come back to Minneapolis for another concert. I'm sure that you will be very welcome. I listen to the EDGE and they have definitely taken a liking to "Sick & Beautiful". Its one of their most played songs, as it should be. And I have seen your video for "Sick & Beautiful" only once on MTV and then only the very end. From what I saw it looked awesome. I'm really hoping that it will get more play time as it goes up the charts and it gets requests. I'm going to get the CD tomorrow (pay day) and will more than likely compulsively play it for hours each day, but thats to be expected. Well I think I've taken quite enough of your time with my ramblings, so I'll leave you to your other adoring fans.
